Classification of valves
There are many types of valves. With the continuous improvement of the process and performance of various complete sets of equipment, the types of valves are still increasing, but in general they can be divided into the following categories:
Classified by purpose and function
Cut-off valves: Mainly used to cut off or connect the flow of media. Gate valves, globe valves, diaphragm valves, ball valves, plug valves, butterfly valves, plunger valves, ball plug valves, needle-type instrument valves, etc.
Regulating valves: Mainly used to adjust the flow and pressure of the medium. Regulating valves, throttle valves, and pressure reducing valves
Check valves: check valves with various structures to prevent the medium from flowing back
Shunt valves: used to separate, distribute or mix media, various structures of distribution valves and traps, etc.
Safety valves: used for safety protection when the medium is overpressured. Various types of safety valves
Classified by pressure
Vacuum valve: a valve whose working pressure is lower than the standard atmospheric pressure
Low pressure valve: valve with nominal pressure PN<1.6MPa
Medium pressure valve: valve with nominal pressure PN2.5-6.4MPa
High pressure valve: a valve with a nominal pressure of PN10.0-80.0MPa
Ultra-high pressure valve: Valve with nominal pressure PN>100MPa
Classified by medium temperature
High temperature valve: >450-valve
Medium temperature valve: 120-450-valve
Normal temperature valve: -40-120-valve
Cryogenic valve: -100-40-valve
Ultra-low temperature valve: <-100-valve
Classified by valve body material
Non-metallic materials valves: such as ceramic valves, glass steel valves, plastic valves
Metal material valves: such as copper alloy valves, aluminum alloy valves, lead alloy valves, titanium alloy valves, Monel alloy valves, cast iron valves, carbon steel valves, cast steel valves, low alloy steel valves, high alloy steel valves, stainless steel valves
Metal valve body lining valves: such as lead-lined valves, plastic-lined valves, and enamel-lined valves
Classified by nominal diameter
Small diameter valve: DN≤40mm valve
Medium diameter valve: DN50-300mm valve
Large diameter valve: DN350-1200mm valve
Extra large diameter valve: DN≥1400mm valve
Classified according to the way it is connected to the pipeline
Flange connection valve (Flange): There is a flange on the valve body, which is connected to the pipeline by flange
Threading valve (Threading): The valve body has internal or external threads and is connected to the pipeline by threading
Welding connection valve (Welding): The valve body is equipped with welds and grooves, and is welded to the pipeline.
Clamp to connect the valve, (wafer): There is a clamp on the valve body, which is connected with the pipe by a clamp
Card sleeve connection valve: adopt a card sleeve connection with the pipeline
Classified by general classification
This classification method is divided according to principle, function and structure, and is currently the most commonly used international and domestic classification method.
